Butte County Highlight

The largest gold nugget was found in Magalia, four miles north of Paradise. Nearby Lake Oroville offers abundant camping, boating and fish opportunities.

Butte County offers rich fertile valley, rolling hills, and volcanic peaks. There are steep canyons carved by many streams and rivers. Much of the county is rural and preserved by nearly 60,000 acres of parkland and wildlife reserves within the county.
